In the recent days, everyone has their smartphones. However, sometimes not all of them are smart enough in using them. What's pitiful is that people keep worrying about their privacy but in the meantime still using social media as their daily dose. Private Instagram account or Facebook would not guarantee you from hackers. Please do Google about how to hack someone's phone, Facebook, WhatsApp, Line, Etc. if you don't believe it :)
I believe that there are good people and also bad people out there. My Facebook account almost got hacked several months ago from someone in Russia. First, I don't have any relatives or acquittances there. I know nobody. Second, I haven't been using my account in years except for looking some important informations. It's blank out there! I am thinking of get rid of it but I always find myself checking if there are something I should know about. So, I haven't deleted it until now. My point is, even you did nothing wrong or know no one, your privacy can be unlocked by anonymous. My thoughts about social media privacy crushed after I found some blogs wrote about how you can hack someone's account/phone. Like, damn there's no escape! The only way is to delete ALL of my accounts and go unreachable.
But... I won't do that. I am not a primitive.
I cannot deny that social media is everything. You can easily connect with the furthest person in no time. You can send images, videos, voice notes, or (my favourite) doing video calls! Other than that, you can gather important news and also learn something through them, for example sometimes people on Facebook share some news. I know Ted.com via Facebook and up until now I am still its biggest fan. It's very inspiring and rich of knowledge. Very useful indeed.
So, what can you do if you want your privacy back while you're using social media? You can't but you can prevent someone from taking your "privacy". Be a smart user. Do not post something personal on social media. If you want to talk privately, the best way is to schedule a meeting. If you're a type of person who can't filter your posts but you want privacy, say good bye to your account or do not blame anyone if someday you cried over your privacy's death.
If it's on the internet or using internet, it isn't private. Remember that.
"We don't have a choice on whether we do social media, the question is how well we do it"
